February Reflection: Yoga Beyond the Mat

Your Yoga Is Bigger Than You Think

FEBRUARY REFLECTION

This month in class, we’ve been gently exploring the 8 C’s — qualities that invite us deeper into our practice both on and off the mat.

Yoga is so often advertised as the asana — the shapes, the flexibility, the aesthetic.
But your yoga? It’s so much more than that.

It might look like:

  • Taking a small present-moment pause and doing a body scan as you wake up.

  • Practicing Ahimsa (non-harm) by softening the negative self-talk.

  • Becoming your own #1 cheerleader instead of your harshest critic.

  • Offering a genuine compliment to a friend.

  • Choosing a random act of kindness for a stranger.

The 8 C’s invite us into qualities like compassion, curiosity, courage and calm — and when we practice them consistently, they begin to shape how we respond to life.

Your yoga isn’t just what happens in a session.
It’s how you meet yourself when things feel hard.
It’s how you regulate your nervous system.
It’s how you speak to your body.
It’s how you show up in your relationships.

Movement is just one small part. Awareness is the real practice.

INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY – SUNDAY 8TH MARCH

I’m so excited to be teaching a yoga flow session with Seagals this Sunday as we raise awareness and funds for Share the Dignity.

Share the Dignity is a beautiful Australian organisation working to end period poverty.
Did you know 64% of women have struggled to afford period products when menstruating?

They provide sanitary items to those in need across Australia — restoring dignity, access and care.

If you feel called, you can:

  • Donate

  • Sponsor a product

  • Shop online (with funds going back into supporting women)

MY TOP 3 HIGHLIGHTS OF FEB

  1. Starting to work with the 20 Talk team as a Mental Health Maintenance Facilitator

  2. Having a boogie and a sing to Mama Mia tunes alongside a sunset dip with the amazing Seagals community

  3. Finally read the Midnight Library by Matt Haig - it’s a good one. It offers a beautiful reminder to live with contentment, finding joy in the everyday. We don’t have to be extraordinary all the time or constantly chasing something more.

I can’t wait to see you all on the mat soon!

Much Love,

Tay xx
