BRING ON THE COZY SEASON

HELLO WINTER!!!

The season of cool crisp air, darker mornings and nights, making the most of the sunshine when it’s out but also enjoying rugging up with your winter woollies, getting cozy and hibernating a little more at home.

Making the most of your winter season

Although we tend to be a little apprehensive about getting into winter, consider it a season to focus on you, be selfish and take this time to really slow down as that’s what winter is for. Make more time for recharging your body and mind, find what makes you the happiest and really focus on the essence of ‘Hygge’, the Danish term which focuses on creating a warming cozy environment to ease stress and enhance relaxation.

Let's kickstart your winter! Here are 3 simple things you might like to try out:

  1. Prioritise Sleep: Aim for 7-8 hours of quality sleep each night, start to set up a good resting sleep routine to continue to maintain by the time spring hits again so you feel replenished.

  2. Hydration is Key: Our bodies are mostly water, so staying hydrated is key and even more challenging to maintain over the winter time. Try hot herbal tea to increase your hydration levels or maybe invest in a fun new drink bottle to keep up a level of motivation to drink through the day!

  3. Cook and eat hearty, nourishing meals: This will allow you to embrace the Hygge concept a little further. Giving your body fuel and comfort with all the delicious and warming ingredients needed to keep you healthy and feeling good. Whip out that slow cooker and crank up the heat!! Maybe you could try a new soup recipe or make that delicious curry for friends that you’ve been putting on the back burner.

Adjustment Cards

I love being able to give hands on adjustments to your flow, but I understand that your body changes daily and it doesn’t always mean wanting adjustments each time. I have made adjustment cards so that you have the choice each time you show up on your mat, to remind you that you can say ‘yes’ or ‘no’ and that it’s ok to change each time, I’m here to make your practice as comfortable for you as I can!

Instead of paying $25 for a casual session, remember you can always purchase a three or five class pass to receive a little discount on your yoga sessions.

MY TOP 3 FOR THIS PAST MONTH OF MAY…

  1. Trying some dancing fun at Honkey Tonk in Fremantle, a good laugh and a good boogie with friends always puts me in a good mood.

  2. Food prep… I’ve been so against it over the years, turns out, it can be easy and fun and makes my life so much easier when it comes to fuelling my body, would recommend. Now I understand the hype!!!

  3. Learning that my meditation practice doesn’t have to be rigid and perfect, it can change with my mood and what I do over my day. Meditation for me this month has been walking without any distraction, going for a surf, trying bedtime meditation instead of my usual morning time sessions. Also knowing that 2 mins is ok and still great compared to my ideal 15mins if I find it hard to fit it in, it all counts. I’m also learning not to be hard on myself if I miss a session, it’s a daily-ish practice and I need to make it work for me.
