SPRING HAS SPRUNG!
THE SEASON OF WILDFLOWERS, FINDING TIME TO REFRESH AND ENJOYING THE WARMER DAYS

MY FAVOURITE SEASON OF THE YEAR!

Have you noticed the air becomes a little more mild, the smell of wildflowers around you, extended light in your day and maybe a little more energy within?! Yes, Spring is here!!!
It’s my favourite season of the year, why, you may ask?! Well here are a handful of reasons…
🌼 Wildflower Season and the extended scent of blooms in the air
🌼 Longer lasting days
🌼 Feeling more energy in myself, wanting to adventure more and explore new things
🌼 Finding the want for a reset and refresh at home to ‘dust off the cobwebs’ from winter
🌼 Taking time to pause and notice if a reset is also needed personally. A nice time to acknowledge how the year has been so far, exploring if I need a little reset or adjustment in some way.
INTRODUCING SPRING CONCEPTS IN YOUR OWN LIFE
This month I have been focusing on varying themes of Spring throughout my yoga teaching to enable you to think deeper on a personal level. Themes of de-cluttering your mind, re-awakening and finding your spark + finding time to reflect on ways to refresh and renew.
Here are 3 things you might like to try out that I have been incorporating into my teachings through classes:
Incorporating twists into your own yoga sessions or movement at home: Twisting in yoga can help release any extra stress and tension held in the body as this motion helps to trigger your parasympathetic nervous system. The twist itself builds tension through contraction in your body then on release, it allows your body a feeling of release, ease and calm. Twisting also aids to help cleanse your body’s organs due to this deeper contraction motion as upon release, fresh oxygenated blood can flow through your body. These twists can be simply added to your day such as a supine twist on your back before you go to bed, or a seated twist in a chair at work.
Taking time to check on how your year has been: I’m not so much a new years’ resolution gal, but I do like the essence of Spring with a spring clean on your life! This can be as big or as small as you like, but I find it’s a nice way to touch base with how your year is going and clean it out! What’s not working for you? What would you like more of in your life? Are there routines that need tweaking? Is there a project you’ve wanted to start and haven’t had the energy?
See if you can bring your spark back through a little more mindfulness: I’ve been doing a lot of reading and listening lately and there is so much out there on how our attention is getting smaller and smaller and we are falling into the trap of needing and wanting more, pinging from one thing to the next. We are getting lost worrying about the future and dwelling on what’s happened in our past, I am certainly one for it!!! So I invite you to try and be a little more mindful to help be more present and create simple moments of joy in just ‘being’. Mindfulness helps the functioning of your brain, allowing for further re-wiring to help you get better at being less distracted, less anxious, finding a little more ease and calm to allow for your sparky self to flourish. Things like brushing your teeth, waiting for a train, drinking your coffee, going for a walk, even watching TV… see how present you can be with just that activity, no phones, no ‘multitasking’, nothing else needed, bring full awareness to how the activity makes you feel; such as the smell of the coffee before your first sip, the sun on your face as you walk, the laughter in your belly from the TV show, the taste of toothpaste in your mouth. Small and simple steps that all add up to help you feel more YOU.

MY TOP 3 FOR THE MONTH OF AUGUST + SEPTEMBER
Getting to go away again to host another beautiful retreat group with Sol Surf. This time we explored Siargao, Philippines and gosh it was just beautiful, island life was in full swing over there! Think tropical landscapes, plenty of coconuts and soaking up the pristine waters during our surf sessions!
Flowing with Seagals over some evening yoga sessions. Such a special time with the sunset to end the day, a reset styled flow and ending with shared cups of tea and chats. Being part of this community fills me up completely.
I was able to celebrate my birthday with all of my family, friends and yogi community, it was so, so special and I felt all of the love, so thank you from the bottom of my heart!
